The Forest Cruiser

The Forest Cruiser will go into production in 2009. This 40’ design with a beam of 10’ 6” and a draft of 3’ 6”, will be of wood composite construction and reflect the classic styling of the Canadian forestry boats. The design of this seaworthy and economical displacement hull allows for the boat to be easily maneuvered. The inclusion of a bow thruster and an electric windlass in the design further enables smooth, stress free docking and anchoring. Designed for coastal cruising at 8 knots, our yacht will appeal to the person who knows that relaxing and enjoying the sounds and sights of nature along the way is an important part of the adventure of water travel.

All Forestry Yachts are designed to be operated with as little adverse environmental impact as possible. An electric engine will eliminate the noise pollution and exhaust produced by standard diesel boat engines. The patented hull design reduces water turbulence and minimize wake to increase efficiency and to prevent the disturbance of other boaters on the water.

The Forest Cruiser will use a hybrid power source for the engine that will be supplied by a combination of electric, diesel and solar technologies. An electric motor turns the propeller, driving the vessel silently to the desired destination. A high efficiency diesel generator will provide back up power or recharge the battery bank.
